Fibre reinforced concrete

Fiber-reinforced concrete

Fibre reinforced concrete is comprises of fibrous material which improves its structural cohesion. The fibrous material consisting of composite material of cement mortar or concrete and fibres. The plastic shrinkage and drying shrinkage is reduced due to the use of fibres in the concrete and also it reduces bleeding of water and permeability of concrete.

Advantages of Fiber-reinforced concrete

It can be used where high tensile strength and less cracking are recommended. Where conventional reinforcement it is failed fibre reinforced concrete can be provided.

The fibre reinforced concrete can improve impact strength of concrete and also minimise the the growth of cracks in the concrete. The strain capacity of composite material is increased.

Macro synthetic fibre can be used to improve durability of concrete in the industrial project. The synthetic material are long and thick in size it is a replacement for bar.

freeze-thaw resistance can be im

proved by mixing fibre to the concrete and it also keep the concrete attractive and powerful for long period of time.

The pumpability and mix cohesion can be improved by adding fibre in the concrete.

While curing resistance to plastic shrinkage can be increased.

The requirement of Steel reinforcement will be minimised.

Crack width can be controlled tightly so thus it will improve the durability.

Fibre reinforced concrete can be able to reduce the segregation and with that it also reduces the bleeding.

The toughness of fibre reinforced concrete is about out 20 to 40 times more than that of a a normal concrete.

Fatigue strength is increased due to the addition of fibre.

Share capicity of reinforced concrete will be increased due to the addition of fibres.

Applications

The applications of FRC depend on the applicator and builder in taking benefits of the static and dynamic properties of the material.

Some of its area of application is-

Runway

Elevated decks

Aircraft Parking

Slope Stabilization

Pavements

Thin Shell

Tunnel Lining

Manholes

Warehouse floors

Hydraulic Structure

Pipes

Dams

Walls

Bridges

Roads

Conclusion

Reinforced concrete can add durability and aesthetics which will give benefits to your project. It is becoming more popular among the contractors and homeowners because of its unbelievable benefits. It can reduce the construction time and labour cost so it is becoming popular in in concrete fraternity.quality is also taken into consideration besides cost in the fibre reinforced concrete. Freeze thaw resistance can be improved with the help of fibre reinforced concrete.
